  Located on the hill of Castello, the church of Santa Maria di Castello is one of the oldest places of Christian worship in Genoa and one of the most intact and suggestive Romanesque architecture in the city. 

  The church, consecrated in 1237, was enlarged in the second half of the fifteenth century and became an important cultural pole, the convent and the three cloisters and the sacristy were built. In addition to preserving objects of great artistic value, the complex is an important testimony of the convent life in the past and the importance of mendicant orders within the city's cultural life.

  Conference: "The history of the Student House: from Gestapo Command Center to European Resistance Museum".

  
  

  Museum of the European Resistance

  Between October 1943 and April 1945, the student house in Genoa was the seat of the command of the Nazi SS and place of atrocious torture. The places of torture, walled up after the war, were rediscovered fifty years ago by a group of students who dedicated those "places" to Rudolf Seiffert, a Berlin worker murdered in Brandenburg prison in January 1945, to underline the international character of the Resistance. Later the Casa dello Studente, with the collaboration of the ANPI and the "Logos" Documentation Center, became a Museum of the European Resistance.

  Exhibition on workers resistance in Berlin 1942-45

  In 1942, the S.J.B. Organization arose in Berlin, one of the largest networks of resistance to National Socialism, with over 500 members. The purpose of the traveling exhibition, organized by the Filippo Buonarroti Center in Milan, is to raise awareness of this very important but "forgotten" page in the history of resistance to Nazism. The exhibition had been scheduled in 2020 at the JRC Ispra Club House during the German semester but postponed due to COVID-19 restrictions.

  An open-air museum with art collections, rich paintings and sumptuous furnishings. 

  They take their name from the "List of Public Housing or Rolls", official lists, which included the prestigious buildings, intended to house by lottery, the high personalities in transit in Genoa. 

  During the trips we will visit: Piazza San Matteo, Piazza Curiale della famiglia Doria, Basilica Nostra Signora delle Vigne, Chiesa dell'Annunziata, exteriors of the buildings in via Balbi, etc.
