EXHIBITION

FANTASMAGORIA CALLAS

at the Teatro alla Scala Museum

On the occasion of the hundredth anniversary of her birth, the Teatro alla Scala pays homage to Maria Callas with an exhibition conceived to celebrate her myth, evoking the indelible mark that she left on the collective imagination.

The legacy of the soprano, who was able to combine singing and acting in a unique blend that left her in history as a timeless icon, is the protagonist of an exhibition that restores the portrait of a complete artist, deeply linked to the history of the Theater at La Scala which saw her perform 23 opera titles in 28 performances from 1950 to 1961, including 6 season openings.

The title of the exhibition refers to the theatrical form of "fantasmagoria", which traditionally uses stage illusions to recreate ghostly effects and supernatural visions, to convey the impression of the multiple traces, influences and testimonies that Maria Callas was able to inspire over the course of weather.
